THE EXPEDITION c.1890

The Expedition features 6 glass positive slides from a group of unknown photographers who set sail from Great Britain and traveled the world. The trip documents the travelers' experience, landscapes and ethnographies from destinations across Asia and the northern Pacific region. The incredible imagery was transferred to glass slides for use in Magic Lantern stories.

Today, the Magic Lantern is not a common tool in visual storytelling, but quite possibly has had the most influential impact on how we tell stories. The power of the Magic Lantern rests in its ability to fascinate audiences and evoke emotion through a compelling visual format that transcends time and cultures.

As you explore The Expedition, let the magic in and provoke your imagination, every image has a story of its own.
