BRYCE
A surfer himself, Bryce Laurino uses his California upbringing and love for the ocean as the inspiration for his photography. Merging his passion for photography with his appreciation of the coast lets the viewer see the ocean through the eyes of a surfer, with admiration and respect for the ocean and all it has to offer. Using film photography as his medium, his process is simple but meaningful. Being present in the moment allows him to connect with the ocean, focusing on the image and trusting the medium to deliver. Equipped with the Nikonos V by Nikon, the camera and film give the images warmth and grain, adding depth and texture. Comparing the rawness of the ocean to the analog process of film, waves capture light just as film does, freezing a moment in time. Bryce aims to share the ocean through his perspective, a calm reflection connecting the viewer to the sanctuary of the water.
